EDP Institute, an entity that coordinates socio environmental actions by EDP’s Group in Brazil, in the context of the EDP in Schools program, the Art with Energy Contest was launched, aiming at boosting the creative potential of children and youngsters.
Transforming lives through education and art
Ever since 2015, EDP’s Group has publicly assumed the mission to contribute towards reaching Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). One of the means chosen was the promotion of debating, within younger crowds, and the mobilization for causes that take us to a more sustainable future. Transforming lives through education is one of the main commitments conveyed by the EDP in Schools program.
The Art with Energy Contest is one of the activities that has been promoted in this context, with the objective of promoting the creative potential in children and young people from the 1st to 9th grade, that from the discussion of a social relevance theme, is challenged to integrate art and energy under the form of artistic representation. The challenge consists of depicting the richness and importance of Brazilian biodiversity, by stimulating students to reflect on the surrounding environment and their relationship with nature.
2021 Edition - Climate Change: Our Energy to make the difference
The 2021 Edition, under the “Climate Change: Our Energy to make the difference” theme, counted over 4.800 written essays. This edition resulted in 30 winning pieces, 29 winning teachers, and 3 recognized schools as a Highlight, for the development of activities for the contest
The initiative’s global success is due to the performance, talent, and dedication of every teacher and student involved. Art can awaken the vision and awareness in all of us. Every participant is, therefore, a winner, in the sense that they expand their knowledge, reflect upon their habits, exercise creativity and challenge themselves.
