In Brazil, bringing electrical safety to socially vulnerable neighborhoods.
EDP Brazil and EDP Institute have united efforts with Moradigna, which reformed 35 degraded homes in the Bambi neighborhood, in Guarulhos, in the sense to ensure the electrical supply for those houses. This project is inserted in EDP’s Impact Lab.
Lighting lives inside
In the context of the Impact Lab, EDP Brazil and EDP Institute, have associated with Moradigna, a social institution whose purpose is to change the lives of Brazilian living in insalubrity, taking into consideration the assurance of an electrical provision of 35 homes of families in vulnerable situations.
To ensure decent living conditions for the 35 residents living in Bambi’s neighborhood, in Guarulhos, Moradigna proceeded to reform their homes, and with EDP’s support, it was possible to endow the community with electric installations according to NR10 guidelines, which will help generate jobs and revenue for the population. The project also envisioned enabling the community itself to participate in the home's renovation, making it possible for residents to explore other opportunities, with the knowledge acquired for the period of the renovations.
EDP’s Institute Impact Lab is a program that helps nongovernmental organizations define indicators and targets, and develop plans to expand their impact on society. The duration is eight months and seeks to encourage the adoption, by the participating entities, of an evaluation culture of their project’s social impact, to promote financial scalability and sustainability. Opportunities for the development of indicators are also offered and the presentation of action plans to expand the reach of each one of the organization’s actions.
